  1. Mediterranean Charm

This is our strongest suit. It is what gives us our vivid personality and characteristic appeal. Our people enjoy a wholly unique lifestyle, different from other European cities. We love nature, food, spending time with loved ones, the sea and above all: living life. We relish the simple pleasures and try to squeeze every last drop of goodness from life’s daily fabric. As a Mediterranean people and, specifically, as islanders, that’s the way we’re wired.

  1. Essential: Contact with Mother Nature

Hand in hand with our Mediterranean roots goes the love of our environment and the desire to preserve it. We take great pleasure in spending time in nature. After the customary family meal on Sundays, we like to follow up with a long walk by the sea or in the hills. We’re born outdoorsmen, whether as dynamic cyclists or laid-back beachgoers. Whatever our pace, we seek the sun and thrive on its energy.

  1. Good Weather: Our Stellar Ally

No, we don’t register a fabulous 25º all year round as many people expect. We do have months of cold and rain and, incredible as it seems, even snow! Yes, once in a while it snows in paradise… to magical effect. But, what we can guarantee is that we have over 300 days of sunshine a year, a distinct advantage for optimizing social contacts and getting the most out of the island. Like our iconic sargantana lizard, we are irresistibly drawn out of our lairs whenever we see a golden ray of sun.

  1. Fine Dining is a Matter of Course

It’s not that we like to eat…it’s that we love to eat! And we do it well. The island has a long tradition of sea-based cuisine and its gastronomy is comprised of layers of culinary influences that we are passionate about. Once you’ve enjoyed a delicious paella while gazing across sea views that take your breath away, you’ll never want to leave Ibiza.

  1. Small Island + Short Distances = Big Advantage

Yes, we live on an island, and a relatively small island at that, with 571 m2 total surface area, which translates into a length of 45 km and a width of 25 km. In a nutshell, distances are short here, meaning that you’ll spend less time behind the wheel, encounter fewer traffic jams and have more time for what you really want to do. Could that be why we’re stress-free?

  1. Spanish? English? Catalan? German? French? Italian?

Another big advantage of living on this magnificent island is the cultural and linguistic variety it possesses – a cosmopolitan factor which provides those who live here with the opportunity to learn other languages. And, learning languages as you meet and greet on our sociable little island is a whole lot more fun than the old school way.

  1. The Beach and Relaxation are Never Far Away

Taking an invigorating walk on the beach in the month of January is very nice. Having a meal in the month of March, right by the water’s edge with your feet in the sand is very, very nice. But, in the middle of August, being able to spend a quiet day of downtime at the beach is priceless! There are plenty of hidden nooks and crannies on this island that allow you to avoid the summer crunch – places only known by locals. You’ll have to come to discover them!

We could continue this list and provide many more reasons, but maybe an even better idea would be for you to finish it off yourself after you find out how easy it is to buy a home in Ibiza with the help of Ibiza Agents. Once you’ve settled on the island, you’ll fall in love with it all over again, in a deeper, more permanent way.
